Yes, somebody removed this cap, and it's much better without it.

+ There is a vibration issue as well : the fan send vibration to the player. We have to find a way to get rid of it, using some rubber ...

(Rq : I will be on vacation the next 3 weeks, see you in september !).

Vibration is from a cheap unbalanced fan. Better visit the PC shop then

Wonder if they corrected that on my RH 7500. We will see coming days.

Have a good vacation 8)

Edit: no problem with a noisy fan here. Perhaps LG has tackled the problem now.

Edit2: fan is noisy now

After a week of use I am realy impressed with the functionality of the LG RH 7500. The machine is clearly developped by technicians and users together. I must say this machine is realy value for money and is one of the best I tried so far (and that have been some)

Some improvement can be made on (besides the bugs):
- reverse sort order in the browser (newest recording first)
- folders for recording (record a show into a folder)
- when moving a AVI to another folder it looks like it is copying it
instead of changing the pointer in the file table. Strange.
-...

Tips:
- playing DIVX with subtitles: press Subtitle for 3 seconds or Enter the correct language code in the Setup menu. (Latin1 or 2)
- rename your .MPEG file to .AVI and it will play ;O)
- operate with buttons on player only (without Remote Control)
- when using ^ key you always get the latest recording when sorted on Date in the browser
- ...

(I will add more later)

Cheers

I found a LG RH 7800 clone. Sold at Quelle.
http://www.quelle-international.com/nl/ ... ndex.html#

The features match and there is even a 7in1 MMC reader. The Remote Control is different though.

Does anyone know what the code is for disabling MacroVision?

I need to transfer some old VHS to the harddisk.

Setup > Lock > 0000000 region free
Setup > Lock > 7889 firmware version
Setup > Lock > ??????? disable macrovision

Thanks

All LG firmware can be found on the service site in Poland.

http://pl.lgservice.com/ and click STEROWNIKI BIOS icon, and then DVD/Video

Look for RH7500, RH7800 or RH7900 (RH7x00 in general)

Version 50617A still the latest for the Lsi based RH7x00 series.

Cheers.

By the way, tweakradje, I see there a lot of info in a Netherlands forum:

http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/lis ... e/24000114

but I dont understand your language....Is there any way to translate it to english?

Thank you very much

Hi,

Thanks for the info. So if anyone has a copy of that 50908A version please share it with us. (anyone at LG?)

I realy don't understand their policy on this matter.
Most owners haven't got a clue what firmware is and will not use the firmware update. Users like us can do the update easily without problems. Perhaps wait for Poland to update their site?

If anyone have friends or relatives working at a LG service point please share the latest fw with us.

About the dutch forum: nothing more is mentioned than in the french thread that is on this board.

Jotap: can you check if the FAST copy option is available if a recording is editted? But only if you have cut pieces out of the recording, not Merged it with other recordings.

Cheers

Sorry, but could you explain me this a bit more to check it? I only have the LG for three days...

If you record a show and then edit it (cut a bit of) and then goto the last option in the main menu (dubbing).

Can you select the FAST option in the lower selection box (besides SQ, EQ LQ HQ).

My firmware only shows FAST option with dubbing if the original recording is not edited.

Also if you have the possibility can you check a DIVX avi with SRT subtitle?

The current firmware displays the subtitle line until the next subtitle is shown (does not go away)

Thanks.

(I must try to get that latest firmware somehow anyway :O)

Hi again:

I downloaded the disc containing all the tests...As far as I read, complete all the tests, is very time consuming...Sorry, I have no time now to do all the tests, ...but if you tell me what is exactly the test you want to check, I can do it....

Yes I know. I have test disc version 1.

There will be a map called subtitles(?) where there are AVI files with at least SRT subtitle files.

Play a AVI file that has a SRT file (same name, .SRT extension)

The problem is that the on screen subtitle doesn't go away. Only when the next subtitle appears. The firmware ignores the END time specified in the SRT file (SRT = just a text file look into it with notepad)

Thanks for your time.

Hi again:

I tested all the examples, most of them work OK..Some of them (two or three) dont show the subttitles, and one of them (example 2) show the characters incorrectly...

Anyway, in none of them, appears the problem that you have... I suppose that the new firmware solves this....

By the way, if you get the new version, tell it to me..A friend of mine bought also the 7500, but have the 5030x...version...Sorry I do not remember the number, but is older than mine, and older than 50617A...

Jotap

P.S. it is curious that computer apps like Crystal Player does not show all the test correctly...

Hi:

By the way, I read carefully all this thread, and I see, that MPEG plain files could be reproduced changing the .mpg by .avi...and it works....but here I have a problem...

With these files I can't do ff or rewind...using the search time...This is, I cant use the search by using for exampe for 5 minutes (0:05:00)...It does not work...This works with AVI files but not with MPEG files

Do you have the same problem?

Jotap

I don´t know. Never tried that. Can you use |< and >| ?
That does work with (S)VCD files. Goto.. also does not
work with (S)VCD.

Perhaps you can fool it by burning it in VCD format/layout.
AVSEQ01.DAT AVSEQ2.DAT etc and place them in the MPEGAV
folder (BURN as ISO!!!)

I think that will work. Perhaps more folders from the VCD structure
should be on the CD. I haven´t tried that yet because I don´t have
MPEG files here that I use.

Cheers

I suppose you are right..

By the way, I am finishing reading the user's guide and I found that advertises, that when editing an HD recording, the fast copy option goes away...I think is not a firmware problem...It is advertised...

Hello everyone,
I posted the same question in the french topic, but I'm much more fluent with English, so I'll retry here.
I bought an LG7500 and I have no problem playing the .avi files that I burn on CDs or DVDs. However I can't manage to display any subs together with the movie. I put the .sub or .srt files in the correct format, synchronized with Subtitle Workshop, in the root folder of the DVD together with the .avi. When I go to "home" menu, I see the files, the player displays a message indicating that the files are subtitles, but I can't find a way to play them with the video. Is there any specific file name I must give? Should I put them in a different directory? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

Hi,

Better tell your firmware version first before diggin in deepre. Could be that simple :lol:Latest is 50716A.

- try it with a CD instead of a DVD first
- looooong press the subtitle button when playing the avi to select the proper codepage
- does the CD play well on a PC: mplayer classic or wmp with ffdshow codec (with subtile checkmark on in configuration)
ffdshow: Homepage and goto daily builds (HE'S BACK!)

Sujet du message: problems with my RH7800

Hi everybody,

I know this is a French forum, but I found this thread in English, so I will post here. Here are my problems with RH7800 (firmware 50617A):

- some timer programmed recordings last only 4 minutes, or 4 minutes and 1 second, this happens randomly, once per couple of recordings, and I didn't observe any specific conditions that cause this (like low disk space, quality setting, other settings, recordings don't overlap in timer, or whatever)

- sound in some recordings is not in sync with picture, there is a shift of 1-2 seconds, which makes these recordings unwatchable

I wonder if anybody else has encountered such problems, and I'm afraid these are software bugs, that can't be corrected now, as there is no newer firmware available to download. Or is there? I couldn't find anything above 50617A.

Best regards

No problems you mentioned with my RH 7500 anf fw 50617A.

I thinks it is HDD or perhaps CPU board related. Try initializing your HDD first in the setup menu.

If that doesn't work call LG for a replacement.

I had a 7500 this summer, couldn't quite accept it's lack of features for the price (no playback of recordings underway, no transfer of titles when copying hd -> dvd-r, no mpeg playback). Since it came on sale on Christmas day I thought I would give it another try. However whenever I try to playback xvid encodes that are widescreen they show up as letterbox (even though the pvr is setup to display 16:9). I there a recent problem on the LG RH7X00 series or have I gotten a faulty machine since this worked perfectly on the machine I had this summer.
